It is no longer news that the Super Highway Project proposed to be carried out in Cross River State has met with opposition from various factions, ranging from environmentalists to the British Council. This was so severe that following complaints that the project would encroach into conservation areas in the state, the Federal Ministry of Environment advised The Cross River State Government to ensure that an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) be carried out before any project implementation. UK University offers scholarships for Nigerian students

While doing some research last night I came across this information which should be useful for any Nigerian looking to continue or to further their studies in the United Kingdom.

Currently the University of Sheffield is offering scholarships to both undergraduate and postgraduate students specifically from Nigeria. Fishermen and farmers given go ahead to sue Shell over oil spills in the Niger Delta

Following a court action brought by London lawyers Leigh Day on behalf of the Ogale and Bille communities of Ogoni land, Niger Delta region in Nigeria, permission has been granted for members of these communities to sue Shell over oil spills in the area. Chemicals found in tyres, gloves and baby dummies could give cancer according to WHO

A recent report by the World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that chemicals found in children’s dummies, baby bottle teats, elastic bands, rubber soles for shows, swimming caps and goggles, tyres, gloves and even condoms could be responsible for cancer. The WHO concluded that a material used in rubber manufacturing – MBT probably causes cancer.
