The UK Government has announced that there are to be temporary changes to the restrictions on nurse recruitment from outside the European Economic Area to increase staffing levels across the NHS. This comes as it was identified that there was a current shortage in the number of nurses in the NHS leading to unsafe levels within the system.
According to the gov.uk website, nurses will be added to the shortage occupation list on a interim basis meaning that “nurses from outside the EEA that apply to work in the UK will have their applications for nursing posts prioritised.” This interim provision is to be reviewed by the independent Migration Advisory Committee in February 2016.
So, if you are a nurse outside the EEA and interested in coming to work in this capacity in the United Kingdom, the time to apply is now!
